Will I Need to Contribute?
Your contribution depends on the type of Support at Home service you receive, your financial circumstances and whether transitional arrangements apply to you.
For most Independence services, you contribute a percentage of the cost based on your income and assets, with the Australian Government funding the remainder.

From 1 October 2026, personal care services will be fully funded by the Australian Government for people approved for personal care in their support plan, meaning no participant contribution will apply to that service.

What are Independence services under Support at Home?
Independence services are designed to help you manage daily activities, remain socially connected and continue living independently at home. They include Respite, Transport, Social Support & Community Engagement, Therapeutic Services for Independent Living and Assistive Technology & Home Modifications.
Can HCA Home Care help me choose the right Independence services?
Yes. Your dedicated HCA Home Care Customer Care Manager will take the time to understand your assessed needs, routine and goals and help you plan the approved services that will best support your independence.
Do I have to contribute towards Independence services?
Generally, yes. Participant contributions for Independence services are based on your income and assets, with the government paying the remaining cost.
Can I change my Independence services if my needs change?
Yes. You can change the mix of approved services you receive as your needs, goals or circumstances change. Your HCA Home Care Customer Care Manager can work with you to review your care and coordinate any changes.
Can I receive Independence services alongside Clinical Care and Everyday Living support?
Yes. Depending on your aged care assessment and approved services, HCA Home Care can coordinate support across the different Support at Home categories so your care works together around your needs.
