Join our friendly Sewing Club to connect, create and share your love of sewing. At the first session, participants can decide whether to work together on a shared pattern—perhaps creating items to donate to a chosen charity—or bring along their own projects to work on and discuss. Members are also encouraged to share favourite pieces, techniques and sewing stories from over the years. All experience levels are welcome.

Take part in a gentle, supportive session where you can write a heartfelt letter to or about someone special. The letter may honour a loved one who has passed away or help you feel connected to someone from whom you are separated due to residential care. With thoughtful guidance, you can express treasured memories, feelings and words you would like to share. There is no pressure to read your letter aloud—this is a personal opportunity to reflect, remember and connect.

Anyone can learn to sketch! Spend an hour with our talented presenter and discover how simple shapes, shading and composition come together to create a drawing. In this relaxed, beginner-friendly session, you’ll be guided step by step to build your confidence and creativity. Join us each month to practise new techniques, develop your skills and enjoy the art of sketching.

Build confidence using your tablet or smartphone in this friendly, easy-to-follow session. Learn practical skills such as navigating your device, adjusting settings, connecting to Wi-Fi, using apps, sending messages, making video calls, taking photos and staying safe online. Bring your device and questions—beginners are welcome, and guidance will be provided at a comfortable pace.

Celebrate and learn about diverse cultures and significant days in this welcoming and inclusive session. Participants are invited to explore traditions through stories, traditional dress, food, music and dance, while discussing the importance of family, community and cultural identity. Everyone is welcome to share their own experiences, ask respectful questions and discover what makes each culture unique.

Build confidence using your smartphone camera in this friendly, practical series. Learn to navigate camera settings, compose and take better photos, make simple edits, organise your images, and share them safely with family, friends, the group or on social media. Sessions will also explore privacy choices and how to turn favourite photos into prints, albums and personalised gifts. Suitable for beginners; bring your charged smartphone.

Join our friendly virtual Book Club each month to discover new stories and share the joy of reading. We’ll choose a book to enjoy before each session, then come together for a relaxed discussion about its characters, themes, favourite moments and the ideas it inspired. Share your thoughts, hear different perspectives and recommend books for future meetings. Everyone is welcome—there are no right or wrong answers, and you can participate as much or as little as you like.

Enjoy a fun and friendly virtual trivia session from the comfort of your own home, hosted by the HCA team. This light-hearted, social and accessible activity features two rounds of 15 questions covering familiar topics such as Australia, music, television, sport, food, nature, history, geography and general knowledge. Join in, test your knowledge and share a few laughs—everyone is welcome!
