Funding classifications
Support at Home funding levels and annual budgets
If you’ve been assessed and approved for Support at Home, you’ll be assigned one of eight funding classifications based on your care needs. Each classification comes with its own quarterly budget and annual amount*, which can be used for approved services under the Support at Home service list, based on your assessed needs.

Classification 8 offers the highest level of ongoing funding. If your needs increase, you may be reassessed for a higher classification and a bigger budget.
Extra care funds
Extra funding for equipment and short-term care
Alongside your ongoing classification, you may also be eligible for extra funding through a short-term pathway.
- Assistive Technology and Home Modifications scheme
Provides needs-based funding, from around $500 for low-level equipment up to $15,000 or more for larger home modifications, to help you stay safe and independent at home.
- Restorative Care Pathway
If you’re recovering from an injury, illness or hospital stay, the Restorative Care Pathway offers around $6,000 over 16 weeks to help you regain function.
- End-of-Life Pathway
Provides around $25,000 over 12 weeks, extendable to 16, for people who need extra comfort and support at home in their final months.

Will I need to contribute to my Support at Home services?
Most people contribute something towards their services, based on their income, assets and the type of support they receive. Clinical services like nursing are fully government-funded, while everyday living services such as cleaning and gardening usually carry the highest contribution.

Social Support
Can unused Support at Home funding carry over?
If you don’t use your full quarterly budget, you can carry over up to $1,000 or 10 per cent of your budget, whichever is greater, into the next quarter. This gives you some breathing room if your service needs are lighter one quarter or if you’re saving up for a bigger expense, such as a one-off piece of equipment or an extra service, without having to pay out of pocket.
Any funds beyond that carryover limit don’t roll over, so it’s worth checking in on your budget regularly to make sure you’re getting full value from it.
